Switching and Equipment Coordinator

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in electrical distribution systems? Our client is seeking a Switching and Equipment Coordinator to join their System Operations team.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating and coordinating switching instructions, updating equipment identification databases, and collaborating with various departments to ensure safe and reliable electrical service.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and coordinate switching instructions, clearance tags, and procedures for both planned and emergency scenarios.
- Maintain accurate records of distribution apparatus and equipment.
- Work closely with Distribution Design and Geographic Information System (GIS) teams to keep GIS databases current.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance activities to ensure critical equipment is properly maintained and operational.
Qualifications :
- Fundamental knowledge of electricity (e.g., Ohm’s Law, power flow).
- Experience in electrical distribution systems, including system design, construction standards, and equipment characteristics.
- Proficiency in utility distribution system switching, load transfers, and grounding / tagging procedures.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to operate enterprise-wide computer applications, such as GIS, Outage Management, Work Management, and SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in reading maps and electrical prints, and understanding complex work orders and engineering documents.
- Knowledge of utility construction methods and OSHA Electrical and Utility Safety Standards.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Associate’s degree in electrical, electronics, or construction technology (or equivalent).
- Five years of progressive experience in utility engineering, design, staking, or operations.
