Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Service Division (ITSD), Chief Enterprise Architect (Information Technology Manager I), the Business Solution Architect (BSA), works independently and cooperatively with other IT staff, performing the most complex business analysis, design, planning, and implementation.

In addition, the BSA will create and maintain business process documentation and requirements for IT applications and lead impact analysis for change requests.

The IT Specialist II (ITS II) works primarily in the Software Engineering domain and Business Technology Management; however, the work may be in other domains as needed.

Duties include but are not limited to :

  • Develop and Maintain As-is business flow diagrams for all Lottery applications and interdependencies.
  • Evaluate and analyze changes requests, system impacts and alternate solutions.
  • Assesses business scope, complexities, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into well-documented, high-quality requirements, functional designs, and system specifications.
  • Support testing to ensure that the requirements are tested to changes made, and to ensure that the requirements are traced in the RTM.
  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts to review operational work flows to identify inefficiencies and problems to develop improvements, modifications, and enhancements.
  • Determines relevance and potential value of new technologies to support business objectives and strategies.

This position is headquartered at the Sacramento HQ and is eligible for either a remote-based or office-based telework schedule.

Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as needed. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Eligibility for telework requires employee residence in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states : telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.

Working Conditions

The Business Solutions Architect will work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities, and critical deliverables.

a.Schedule : This position has work hours from 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. after hours work. Weekends, long and / or irregular hours, after-hours work, and holiday work may be required.

b.Travel : Statewide overnight travel may be required.
