Position Summary
The University of New Mexico College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) in the area of Government Docs seeks motivated and highly-engaged student employees interested in a challenging and dynamic customer service work environment.
Library Assistants are the first point of contact most patrons have with the University Libraries system and assist with most day-to-day duties associated with library operations.
Student assistants work with University Libraries staff and students in a team environment to :
- Assist student, faculty and community patrons with using library materials.
- Performs complex processing of federal government documents and clerical duties involving a high degree of responsibility, independent judgment, and paying attention to detail which may include : sorting, filing, marking, receiving, processing and routing materials;
checking for accuracy of records and quality of materials; updating records in databases.
- Shelve federal and state government documents.
- Shifting government documents collection (paper and microfiche).
- Assist patrons to use computers and printing.
- Participate in other ongoing projects as assigned.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently while taking on increasing responsibilities.

Applicants must be capable of working within a team environment. All UL&LS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current / impending school year.
