Overview
Novant Health Waverly Pediatrics & Primary Care is seeking a Nonregister Clinical Lab Tech. The Nonregister Clinical Lab tech performs routine and / or complex tests that may require operation and maintenance of instruments and assurance of quality work.
Follows appropriate policies and procedures for equipment use and maintenance. Generates results of laboratory tests, coordinates and priorities assigned activities to achieve maximum productivity, reporting problems and referring questions to manager or laboratory coordinator.
Verifies patient identity, performs phlebotomy services, registers patients in the laboratory information system (LIS), and orders appropriate tests per physicians’ orders.
Performs duties in clinic areas other than the laboratory as assigned by clinic manager.

Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or GED, required.
Experience : Six months work experience, required.
Phlebotomy experience, computer background, knowledge of medical terminology, formal training and / or experience performing routine laboratory testing; preferred.
Licensure / Certification : Eligibility for phlebotomy certification, preferred.
Additional Skills Required : Must be able to meet competency standards for the established menu of tests. Have the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his / her age specific needs.
Ability to operate equipment both at sitting levels and / or standing levels. Flexibility and adaptability to work additional hours or shifts.
Effective communication skills listening, writing, talking, reading, via telephone, and Lab Information System. Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
Ability to organize and plan work. Work effectively under stress.
