About The Position
Weekly Pay Range - $621 To $690 Job Title : Health Information Technician Job Specialty : Staff Augmentation Job Duration : 26 Weeks Shift : Day, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : Minimum of 9 months in records management;
3 months in medical terminology; 3 months in typing License : Not specified Certifications : Not Applicable Must-Have : Valid driver's license, clear plastic bag for personal items Job Description : Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
- Organize medical reports for placement in files and ensure all reports and signatures are present in charts.- Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, fill out forms, and prepare requests for specific reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay.
- File reports into health information records, record information in logs, and file and retrieve health information records in the filing system.
- Provide information from health information records after determining the appropriateness of the request.- Coordinate with other departments concerning health information records procedures.
- Must have knowledge of health information technology, regulations governing medical record-keeping, requirements for patient confidentiality, and medical terminology.
- Skill in using a typewriter and / or word processor and a calculator.- Ability to deal with problems involving few variables within a familiar context, write routine business communications, proofread medical reports and recognize errors, recognize when medical records information is missing, and gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.
- Orientation must be scheduled on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 8 : 30 am until approximately noon.- Cannot bring a cell phone or smartwatch into the institution and must report with a valid driver's license.
Personal items must be carried in a clear plastic bag.
