Mechanical Engineer
KBR is looking for a Mechanical Engineer (ME) with a minimum of 4 years’ experience to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting the readiness and sustainment of USAF major weapons systems.
Major weapon systems supported include, but are not limited to, the F-16, T-38, A-10, F-15, C-5, C-17, C-130, B-1, B-52, avionics and communication systems, and ground support equipment.
Primary work is at the component, or assembly level for the A-10 Thunderbolt II Attack Aircraft.
Role and Responsibilities
This position is a primary contributor to a team responsible for verification of test, design, and manufacturing plans for A-10 critical components.
This is followed by non-recurring engineering activities to identify low reliability mitigation strategies to include potential changes to system configuration, materials, and design to improve system reliability.
Responsibilities include development of engineering technical data to support changes to system configuration, materials and repair / overhaul processes, prototype development and production and qualification testing.
In addition, will define potential subcontractor support requirements and work with subcontractors to ensure quality deliverables on product development projects.
This work provides opportunities to gain experience in system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, interfacing with operations and logistics, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and test programs.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering School and 2 years of relevant work experience
Strong Microsoft Office skills Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems and innovate solutions
Strong mechanical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Mechanical Engineering experience directly related to USAF weapon systems and / or support equipment
ANSYS, SolidWorks, other CAD, MATLAB, FEA, reverse engineering, and test experience.
Experience in teardown and rebuilding of parts
Additional Notes
This position may require some travel.
