RN Surgical Unit - II (3B) Night Shift

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the Surgical Unit II at Community Medical Center.Community Medical Center, is a 592-bed, fully accredited acute care hospital offering area residents world-class medical treatment with the comforts of hometown care.

Opened in 1961, CMC has evolved into the state s newest teaching hospital with four residency programs and Ocean County s largest and most active health care facility caring for over 21,500 inpatients, 178,000 outpatients and 73,700 emergency department patients each year.

Qualifications : Required : ASN or Nursing DiplomaStrong communication and organizational skillsProficient computer skillsCertifications and Licenses Required : BLS certificationActive New Jersey Registered Nurse LicensePreferred : BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hireScheduling Requirements : Night shift, 36 Hours Per WeekEssential Functions : Organize and administers individualized age specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care Provides nursing care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the State Nurse Practice Act Maintains the standards of nursing care as established,Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.

The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors / walls / ceiling tiles / unsecured areas) and medical errors.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.

The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
