Position Summary :
Assists patients in understanding their diagnosis, treatment options and the resources available.

Kootenai Clinic is the regional cancer treatment center for northern Idaho, eastern Washington, and western Montana. We deliver comprehensive, compassionate cancer care using leading-edge technology, the newest therapies and a wide range of clinical trials as well as rehabilitation.
To minimize the difficulties patients, face traveling during treatment, our doctors offer cancer treatment in three locations : Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, and Sandpoint.
Responsibilities :
- Serves as an essential link between patients and all other medical staff
- Facilitates appointments for consults and support services within established service standards, including social workers, dietitians and physicians
- Coordinates multidisciplinary planning conferences, develops concise patient summaries for use by the care team and documents recommendations made utilizing standardized care protocols in accordance with nationally recognized care guidelines
- Develops patient education programs and tools
- Follows patients throughout the care continuum, including inpatient admissions and collaborates with inpatient care management resources
- Adheres to established productivity benchmarks; identifies opportunities to reduce the cost of care
- Responsible for outreach efforts to establish and maintain positive working relationships with medical staff
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Requirements :
- BSN required; MSN preferred
- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
- Licensed as a RN by the Idaho Board of Nursing OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multi-state privilege to practice" compact with Idaho
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience required
- Certification within specialty area required within one year of meeting qualifications
- BLS required
