Summary / Purpose
The Stamping Process Engineer will have a strong understanding of metal forming processes and equipment including mechanical skills required in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, and production equipment with a strong focus on bearing manufacturing processes.
Working with personnel from manufacturing, maintenance, set-up and engineering, the manufacturing engineer must be able to improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide technical support for existing Metal Forming equipment and processes in a manufacturing environment to ensure optimum efficiency is achieved.
- Design and development of tooling (Dies, punches, die-sets), mechanisms, and equipment for use in metalworking in manufacturing processes.
- Drive troubleshooting activities of tooling issues related to Metal forming process.
- Perform standard analysis, calculations, and generate drawings, as required in product engineering designs.
- Independently manage multiple projects and activities to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery, and continuous improvement goals while meeting planned deadlines.
- Support of other engineers in solving problems associated with manufacturing new or existing products.
- Requires the ability to interact and work with associates at multiple skill levels throughout the organization.
- Provide engineering support in scrap reduction, productivity improvements utilizing Lean tools, machine builds, and quality improvements.
- Analyze data to develop, troubleshoot and improve a variety of processes.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop engineering designs by validating requirements such as cycle time and tooling.
- Facilitate equipment trials at both vendor sites and in house.
- Provide guidance to engineering technicians, interns and various team members as necessary.
- Coordinate and work on activities with other cross functional teams such as Quality Engineering, productions supervisors.
- Responsible for design, installation and commissioning activities of manufacturing lines
- Support equipment design needs and necessary administrative tasks, such as RFQ creation, throughout multiple project phases.
- Support launch activities of new programs.
- Provide daily engineering support for production.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Strong hands-on experience with troubleshooting, dies, punches and associated tooling used in Presses.
- Strong mechanical skills
- A good understanding of equipment safety and safety compliance is a plus.
- Proficient with Creo, Solid Works and AutoCAD
- Good understanding of PFMEA
- Highly innovative & motivated individual who is also a good team player.
- Organized and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Capable of taking engineering theories and putting them to practical use in manufacturing
- Understand and ability to apply Statistical Process Control to solve problems and make sound judgment.
- Ability to document process changes in support of a structured Quality Assurance system.
- Ability to work independently within a team structure.
- Ability to solve problems with a systematic and structured approach.
- Must understand and be able to implement Lean manufacturing concepts, problem-solving techniques, and root-cause analysis.

Education and Experience :
- Qualified candidates will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of experience in metal forming processes and Presses.
- Knowledge of Solid Work, AutoCAD, Creo
- Excellent project management skills
