Epidemiology Position Description The Department of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health studies the frequency, distribution, and determinants of disease in humans, a fundamental science of public health.
In addition to pursuing ground-breaking global research initiatives, we educate and prepare future medical leaders and practitioners as part of our mission to ignite positive changes in the quality of health across the world.
The instructor title is reserved for individuals who make substantial contributions to the school’s teaching programs and who do not already hold an academic appointment that would allow them to teach at the school.
The instructor will lead the Spring 2025 course on Research Synthesis & Meta-analysis’ .
Please note the instructor position is an annual academic appointment, which is reviewed and reappointed on an annual basis.
Reappointments are based on course enrollment and department needs. The instructor title is a non-tenure track position and ineligible for conversion to the tenure ladder.
Compensation is based on a flat rate of $10,000 at the end of the teaching semester.
Additional responsibilities will include :
- Review current curriculum and make adjustments as needed
- Review and update homework, quizzes, exams, and course content for Spring 2025 course
- Review and hire Teaching Fellow team
- Lead lectures during the Spring term
- Grading of all assignments with teaching fellow team
- Provide weekly office hours
- Meet with department leadership as issues or questions arise
- Respond to student emails in timely manner
- Complete all grading by HSPH Deadlines
Basic Qualifications Education Requirements
A doctoral degree in Epidemiology, biostatistics, or related health fields
Experience Requirements
1-3 years of teaching experience at the graduate level
