Logistics Assistant

Partners of the Americas (Partners) is looking for a Logistics Assistant, based in Boghe, with frequent travel to the project’s target regions (Trarza, Brakna and Gorgol), for its USDA-funded Food for Progress (FFPr) project in Trarza, Brakna and Gorgol.

About Partner of the Americas :

Partners of the Americas is a non-profit organization that brings together volunteers and organizations from the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean to collaborate on programs and initiatives that improve conditions for the poor in the Southern Hemisphere and foster greater understanding in the region.

Partners of the Americas, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, ISET, and the World Bank, will provide both traditional and digital extension services to increase farmers’ adoption of essential climate-smart agricultural practices.

The project will transfer extension materials and build capacity for Private Agricultural Service Providers (PASPs), who will support farmers through sustainable extension business models beyond the life of the project.

The FFPr Mauritania project will develop a technical package to train farmers in climate-smart farming practices, such as drought-resistant seeds and intercropping.

This will involve working with farmers across various environmental scales to boost productivity. FFPr Mauritania will also identify key members within target communities who will be trained to use mechanization tailored to the local context and sustainable in terms of increasing the project’s long-term impact.

Purpose of the position

Under the supervision of the Logistics and Compliance Manager, and in coordination with the Base Manager, the Logistics Assistant will play a key role in the administrative and logistical management of the FFPr project at the Boghé office.

The post holder will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing the resources required for activities in the field, ensuring compliance with Partners of the Americas and USDA standards.

Responsibilities :

  • Collecting, organizing and archiving administrative documents relating to activities in accordance with Partners’ procedures and USDA requirements.
  • Prepare and monitor mission files, including logistical aspects (accommodation, catering, transport) for training courses and field visits.
  • Drawing up and updating inventories of materials and equipment used in the project.

Coordination with Suppliers :

  • Approach local suppliers for the purchase of goods and services required for workshops, training courses, and other project events.
  • Manage relations with service providers (accommodation, transport, etc.), ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions and the quality of services provided.

Support for Field Activities :

  • Participate in the logistical planning of activities in the field and supervise the allocation of material and logistical resources to ensure the smooth running of operations.
  • Organize staff travel, manage vehicles, and monitor fuel consumption, optimizing the use of available logistical resources.

Monitoring and Reporting :

  • Document travel, logistics costs, and resource requirements and produce regular reports for project management.
  • Provide support in preparing logistics audits and contribute to continuous improvement in logistics management practices.

Qualifications :

  • Training : 2 years’ higher education in logistics, management, or a related field.
  • Experience : Minimum of 2 years in a similar position, preferably in an NGO or in projects funded by international donors.

Technical skills :

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage several tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Fluency in French; English is an asset.
  • Knowledge of office automation and management tools (MS Office); knowledge of logistics software is a plus.

Personal qualities : Autonomy, thoroughness, initiative, and ability to work well as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
