This position will teach foundational technology skills on the elementary specials rotation and, in some instances, serve as the building media clerk when not teaching.
The instructional aide should be able to reinforce concepts / skills, monitor student progress, assist with discipline and assist with the planning process.
This position is part-time, with the hours of Monday - Friday 11 : 30AM - 3 : 00PM. This posting is for Two Mile Prairie Elementary.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assists the media specialist in implementing lesson plans.
- Works cooperatively with the media specialist to teach foundational technology lessons such as use of Microsoft Office products, the Google suite, introduction to online resources such as Overdrive, CPS Electronic Library, etc.
- Supervises students in the media center.
- Provides instructional support and services under supervision of media specialist.
- Assists media specialist in implementing instructional media programs.
- Provides assistance in clerical tasks.
- Participates in appropriate in-service training.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum : Missouri substitute teaching certificate; 36+ college credit hours, or Associates degree, or 20-hour DESE sub course, or ParaPro assessment.
Prior experience in a school setting and / or working with young people.
Preferred : Bachelor’s degree, Missouri teaching certificate, previous teaching experience, ability to work in a team teaching setting;
A strong desire to teach and be responsible for instructing children as assigned.
