Summary :
Under the supervision of the Dispensing Operations Pharmacist, will be responsible for the dispensing of oral oncology medications for the patients of the Company.
Will be responsible for all dispensing functions in the Pharmacy including but not limited to accurately counting and filling oral oncology medications, ordering / stocking of medications and supplies, and packing / shipping of medications.
Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
KPA 1 Induction
Initiate pharmacy dispensing workflow utilizing conveyor belt system.
Job duties including but not limited to :
- Review and confirm shipping address, promptly print prescription and printing label, & attach required documentation
- Consistently works to meet needs of patients and internal customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Addresses issues in a solution focused manner; proactively seeks ways to improve patient / internal customer service experience.
KPA 2 Prescription Filling
Maintain the distribution and dispensing workflow.
Job duties including but not limited to :
- Accurately, efficiently & promptly fill prescriptions at assigned workstations, maintaining select lot queue.
- Maintain the CPR+ select lot queue daily
KPA 3 Packing and Shipping
Securely pack and ship orders in compliance with State, Federal and Accreditation standards.
KPA 4 Receiving & Inventory
Point of contact for medication, supply and Company order deliveries. Responsible for participating in inventory and assisting with keeping stock at par levels.
Job duties including but not limited to :
- Perform a minimum of monthly inventory counts and make appropriate adjustments in pharmacy dispensing software
- Ensure outdated drugs are removed from inventory at least once month prior to the expiration date
- Assist in ordering and stocking specialty oral oncology medications and related supplies
KPA 5 Documentation
Maintain necessary records pertaining to prescription drug dispensing as required by the Company and the State Board of Pharmacy including notes in CPR+, ONCO and ORCA;
manufacturer notifications; recalls and daily dispense logs.
Job duties including but not limited to :
Maintain necessary dispensing documentation of specialty medications as required by manufacturer and documentation pertaining to daily dispense log and proof of prescription delivery
KPA 5 Compliance & Training
Follow compliance guidelines and complete training as required.
Job duties including but not limited to :
- Responsible for safe and compliant disposal of bio-hazardous waste, if applicable. Maintains receipts pertaining to biohazard waste pick up and ensures Accounting Office receives the receipt.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and annual safety / OSHA training sessions
- Assist in training new employees to related job duties
- Complete Fraud Waste and Abuse training as required by law. Adhere to this training and always report suspected FWA to the Pharmacy Compliance Officer.
- Participate in the Pharmacy Quality Management Program by identifying quality related events and reporting them to the Pharmacist for documentation.
- Maintain continuing education requirements for licensure as well as participating in ongoing pharmacy training on the proper handling and dispensing of new oral oncology drugs.
Yearly demonstrations of competency will also be required at the discretion of the Dispensing Operations Manager.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent
Certifications / Licenses :
Current, unrestricted Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) required (FL)
Previous Experience (including minimum years of experience) :
Five years experience in specialty, retail, or hospital pharmacy as a pharmacy technician preferred
