Long Term Care facility is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to join their team. As Nurse Manager, this position has major responsibility for implementation of strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety and an outstanding patient / resident / family experience.
The Nurse Manager intentionally creates an environment that fosters staff development, staff empowerment, collegial relationships and best practice in the delivery of nursing care.
The Nurse Manager allocates resources to promote efficient, effective, compassionate and fiscally responsible nursing care.
The Nurse Manager assures the coordination of care. The Nurse Manager participates in the recruitment, selection and retention of personnel.
Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for personnel accountable to the nurse manager.
The Nurse Manager models, exemplifies and leads in accordance with Healing Environment principles. Specifically : being professional, communicating effectively, and attending to the care environment.
This is evidenced by work behavior which ensures safety, promotes dignity, respect and well being, and exemplifies healthy relationships.
Supervises : CNA Trainee, CNA, Sr. CNA, LPN, RN, Unit Clerk
The Nurse Manager must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients / residents served within his / her assigned area of responsibility.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and process the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s / resident’s requirements relative to age specific needs.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program
- BSN degree or related field or Master’s in Nursing or related field preferred
- Must have a current NYS license to practice as a professional RN
- Must have at least two (2) years of nursing experience or two (2) years of Long Term Care experience
- Must have two (2) years of consistent management experience in an LTC setting
- Must have interpersonal skills which ensure effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
Knowledgeable in the area of management systems and processes. Demonstrated ability to establish effective work relationships in an effort to lead others in the direction of meeting organizational objectives.
Analytical skills to assess departmental needs, develop, and implement planned interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of applied interventions.
Basic management competencies for the position assigned. Ability to facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
Familiarity with DOH requirements. Computer literacy required with Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Power Point.
Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Meditech preferred
Exposure Control : Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissue.
