Job Description

The Women's Malignancies Branch (WMB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), a division of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institute of Health (NIH), announces a call for applications for Assistant Research Physician, an exciting opportunity intended for physicians with an interest in translating bench-to-bedside research to clinical trials.

The WMB focuses on developing a treatment for gynecologic and breast malignancies and is part of the CCR, NCI's largest intramural program.

The CCR is located in Bethesda, Maryland, and offers an unparalleled opportunity to build a clinical research program with access to plentiful beds at the world's largest dedicated research hospital and an extensive clinical infrastructure including protocol and regulatory support, nursing, data management, information technology, shared research resources, and availability of a broad range of scientific and clinical expertise.

The successful candidate for Assistant Research Physician will take the lead in developing biomarker-driven clinical trials building on translational laboratory work ongoing in the WMB.

The WMB is a vibrant, multidisciplinary research community featuring innovative, high-impact bench-to-bedside research and close collaboration between physicians and scientists with a primary focus on gynecologic and breast cancers.

Applicants should be board-eligible or board-certified in medical oncology.

Required Skills

  • Applicants should be board-eligible or board-certified in medical oncology. Key skills include familiarity with biomarker-driven study design, protocol development, and patient-oriented research;
  • knowledge related to ethical and regulatory issues or conducting clinical research involving human subjects; experience with the collection and management of research data;

and interest in community outreach and teaching medical oncology fellows.

Preferred Skills

Experience in treating patients with breast and / or gynecological malignancies
