Responsibilities :
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of safety policies and procedures
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks
- Provide safety training to associates, including to both new hires as well as refresher trainings to existing associates
- Conducts written and practical MHE training for all new and existing associates
- Supports the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses
- Maintain safety records and documentation as required
- Collaborate with Operations Leadership to address safety concerns
- Contribute to the development of safety orientations for new hires and contractors
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings and discussions as needed
- Stay informed about relevant safety regulations and best practices
- Communicate directly with associates about best safety practices
- Monitors all ID badges for entry / exit compliance to the facility as needed
- Responds to Emergency situations, such as medical, fire, weather, hazardous material, and security related incidents and takes appropriate actions, as stated in Ollies policy
- Any additional responsibilities as identified from Operations Leadership or the Safety Manager
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, not required
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in manufacturing or industrial setting
- Basic understanding of safety principles and willingness to learn and apply new concepts
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and communicate safety procedures to associates at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and investigations
- Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail in identifying and addressing safety hazards
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from supervisors
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (until work is done)
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push and pull up to 35 pounds
- Ability to bend and twist frequently
- Must have ability to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
