Summary :
Directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of the Medical Communications Center (MEDCOMM) staff in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors :
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Directly supervises 20-25 employees in Medical Communications (MedComm). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Provides day- to-day direction for ambulance communications
Prepares work schedules to ensure that sufficient shift personnel are available for workload demands.Reviews dispatch operations to identify technical and operational training needs and recommend operational improvements.
Reviews and recommends modifications to computer-aided dispatch systems.Assigns duties and examines work for conformance to policies and procedures.
Tests, inspects, and operates radio, telephone, computer, and other equipment as needed.Prepares, reviews, and maintains reports, statistics, and records.
Performs the work of subordinate dispatch personnel as needed.Meets with committees composed of representatives from fire and police departments, public, and other interested groups to develop, review, and update policies and procedures for dispatch center.

1) Education / Experience :
Bachelor's degree (BA / BS) from four-year college or university; 5 or more years management experience required, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
CAD and data entry experience required. EMS supervisory experience within a high-profile EMS system preferred.
2) Certificates and Licenses :
A. Emergency Medical Dispatcher credentials preferred - can be obtained after employment
3) Computer Skills :
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software.
4) Math Ability :
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic math / algebra

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
