Position Overview :

The Associate Project Director is responsible for the supervision of the project team and day-to-day oversight and management of activities and deliverables within assigned project(s) that are complex in size and scope.

This position may independently lead smaller, less complex projects or may work collaboratively with a more senior leader depending on the scope and complexity of the work.

Summary

  • Salary : $93,000-$99,000
  • Career Level : Experienced
  • Status : Full Time, Employee, Exempt, US Based Remote
  • Education : Master’s degree in Public Health or related field preferred plus 7-10 years managing and leading programs / projects in healthcare, academic, or non-profit setting.

Equivalent relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Position Responsibilities May Include

  • Project Direction
  • Directs all aspects of project scope, workplan, and deliverable of a of a project complex in size and scope in collaboration with senior project leadership.
  • Ensure changes to scope are documented, communicated and approved by senior project leadership or designee
  • Contributes to cross team and cross functional leadership including advanced communication and collaboration
  • Demonstrates knowledge of NICHQ methodology including model for improvement, breakthrough series, collaborative learning, health equity and manages the frameworks with limited guidance
  • Manages relationship with funders and partners in collaboration with Senior Project Leadership
  • Ensures alignment and engagement of partners, consultants and faculty
  • Oversees and / or leads periodic reporting
  • Represents the project and organization at internal and external meetings and conferences
  • People Management
  • Oversees project team and ensures roles and responsibilities on project are clearly delineated and managed
  • Supervises interns, Project Coordinators, Project Managers and / or Senior Project Managers. This includes managing their project work, performance assessment, and professional development
  • Fiscal Management
  • Provides oversight for project budget and contracts. The APD is responsible for tracking questions, concerns and issues and devising solutions before coming to senior project staff and / or Programs leadership with updates and assistance request.
  • Manages the administration of contracts, including monthly and quarterly reporting of time and deliverables, addressing scopes of work changes, and invoicing approval
  • Manages project-specific contracting with consultants including writing detailed scopes of work and managing implementation.
  • Organizational Contributions
  • Manages additional internal special projects, as requested
  • Contributes to cross project sharing, learning and consistent integration of organizational support functions

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing people and complex projects in health care or related settings
  • Ability to apply principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
  • Experience in public speaking and presentation
  • Ability to think strategically, including process level thinking to optimize systems and resources
  • Demonstrated experience cultivating partnerships
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to communicate sensitive information with a variety of stakeholders in a tactful manner
  • Experience coordinating in-person and virtual events.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large federal grants and / or contracts
  • Skilled multi-tasker who can prioritize, work autonomously and in teams, establish timelines and meet deadlines and deliverables
  • Proficiency with office systems, computers, and MS Office Suite : Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Master’s degree in Public Health or related field preferred plus 7-10 years managing or leading programs / projects in a healthcare, academic, or nonprofit setting.
