The Practice Support Services Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Pro Bono Specialist in the New York office.
The Pro Bono Specialist is responsible for supporting the Chief Pro Bono Counsel, Pro Bono Counsel, Director of Pro Bono, and Pro Bono Manager in implementing the firm's pro bono program initiatives, including liaising with corporate clients and legal aid organizations in pro bono collaborations, responding to pro bono surveys and awards submissions, tracking, and reporting pro bono metrics, maintaining records and staffing charts, and scheduling meetings and events.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Cultivating and coordinating the development of pro bono collaborations with commercial clients.
- Managing and drafting responses to national and local pro bono surveys and awards submissions.
- Planning and coordinating pro bono clinic programs and associated trainings with legal service partners.
- Analyzing pro bono data and preparing reports on pro bono metrics; responding to audit and report requests from internal departments and external organizations.
- Managing intake of pro bono matters including matter opening procedures and coordinating retainer letters.
- Tracking attorney departures and ensuring proper case handover.
- Coordinating staffing on pro bono matters.
- Maintaining records for the pro bono department including all relevant internal program information (i.e., hours reports, data reports, past survey and award submissions, template documents, transactional form bank, etc.)
- Coordinating internal pro bono events such as panels and training.
- Coordinating with the Pro Bono Committee for scheduling meetings and assisting with subcommittee logistics.
- Responding to calls and letters requesting pro bono assistance.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced Degree a plus.
- A minimum of four years of experience in the professional services or legal industry.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Knowledge of various data management and computer software programs preferred including PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, Foundation, Microsoft Teams, iManage, etc.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $87,000 to $105,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and / or from which they will be performing the job.
