This state-of-the-art ice facility will feature two regulation-size rinks, including a team practice rink with stadium seating, the Panthers’ new practice facilities spanning over 33,000 sq.

ft. of offices and off-ice training facilities, and a 4,000-capacity music theatre for live entertainment. The future is bright, and we are very proud of what we are building in South Florida.

Job Summary :

The Florida Panthers seek a driven, passionate attorney to provide legal support to team and arena business operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Provide detailed and timely legal and business counsel to all departments of the organization on corporate transactions, risk management, labor and employment, facilities management / vendor services, and other legal matters.
• Negotiate, draft, review, and manage contracts and other legal documents necessary to facilitate a variety of transactions supporting corporate governance, third-party relationships and engagements, vendor and sponsor management and procurement, facilities, and events management.
• Maintain familiarity with NHL rules and regulations to counsel on, and ensure compliance with, those rules and regulations.
• Manage litigation matters, including tracking deadlines, responding to discovery requests, and coordinating with outside counsel.
• Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal department processes.
• Develop, approve, and enforce a variety of strong and successful policies and procedures throughout the organization.
• Assist with company risk management and mitigation initiatives and prepare and advise on related policies, protocols, and training in relevant areas of responsibility.
• Assist with corporate governance matters and maintain corporate records.
• Monitor and advise on current industry legal trends and developments.
• Develop and maintain contract management system.
• Prepare summary of existing and proposed contract terms.
• Perform other miscellaneous tasks and execute special projects as they arise.

Qualifications :

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Member of The Florida Bar or ability to obtain certification as an Authorized House Counsel in Florida.
• 1 4 years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate, transactional or in-house setting.
• Superior drafting, communication (written and oral), interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in identifying complex legal issues and evaluating and balancing legal risks with other relevant factors.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Excellent work ethic and self-starter.
• Positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information.
• Ability to collaborate on projects with multiple departments and contacts.

This is an exempt (salary) position. Must be able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
