Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications at National Center for Civil & Human Rights in Atlanta, GA The National Center for Civil and Human Rights (The Center) is an engaging nonprofit museum and cultural organization located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia that connects the American Civil Rights Movement to today’s ongoing struggle for human rights.

Role SummaryThe Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications is the key leader responsible for development, planning, budgeting and implementation of the organization’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities.

This person will direct and measure the impact of marketing and public relations strategies implemented internally and externally.

The Sr. Director will serve as a strategic liaison with all departments to assess, advise, and support their marketing needs.

This position offers the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, with two days onsite and three days per week remote.Reports To : President & CEOEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCreate, implement and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will 1) generate ticket sales to the museum and attendance at the range of programs that we offer;

and 2) enhance the organization’s image and brand locally, nationally and globally.Oversee marketing campaigns across multiple media channels including print, online and digital media.

Provide guidance and counsel to organizational leaders involved in media interactions; deepen relationships with all media to ensure the most effective messaging and positioning of the organization.

Foster relationships and partnerships with local and state tour agencies, associations, visitor bureaus and youth organizations.

Build, maintain and manage The Center’s outreach databases and create segmented communications for various target audiences.

Manage a team of marketing, graphic design, and communications professionals, ensuring proper training, skills and professional development needs are being met.

Supervise the organization’s media strategy and ensure brand messages are consistent.Work with marketing & communications team in creation of press releases, annual reports and articles on behalf of The Center.

Share expertise with marketing, promotions and group / event sales functions of the Center.Support all departments with communications, marketing and promotional needs.

Influence present and future products by determining and evaluating current and future market trends.Other duties as required to ensure first class delivery of the organization’s marketing strategies.

Core CompetenciesMinimum of 8-10 years’ experience in marketing, sales, communications or public relations with demonstrated success.

Five (5) or more years in a management / leadership role.Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, journalism, communications or public relations;

Master’s degree a plus.Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant online media, including web design and impact, social media marketing strategies, strategies for increased online visibility, etc.

Strong media relationships and demonstrated ability to engage and secure media interest, as well as provide oversight and guidance on public relations efforts.

Exceptional analytical, budgeting, organizational and problem-solving skills.Strong writing and editing skills with acute attention to detail is a must.

Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.Ability to handle public inquiries with professionalism and grace, even during stressful conditions.

Strong knowledge of the Atlanta museum and tourism industry; previous experience in museum, arts institution, and / or human rights institution a plus.

Previous experience in a nonprofit public service environment preferred.Operate within equitable and anti-racist mindset when approaching tasks, community, and colleagues.

Capable of managing multiple priorities.Ability to work a variable schedule based upon the needs of The Center, which include occasional nights and weekends.

Physical RequirementsCapable of working on a computer for extended periods of time.Extended periods of sitting, standing and / or moving.

Cognitive ability to process information, analyze and make decisions.Ability to lift, carry, and or move up to 25 pounds.

Bending, reaching, kneeling.Compensation :
