We are seeking motivated students to join our Rotational Engineering Co Op Program based out of our Gaston, SC facility.
The ideal Engineering Co-op will be results driven, motivated by technical challenges and has excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
Co-ops are reportable to their assigned engineering team's manager and work closely with Technical, Business and Engineering personnel to accomplish assigned projects such as new product development, process improvement, capacity and debottlenecking studies and offering technical support to the manufacturing operations.
The selected candidates will work on the following tasks :
- Working with support groups to develop and implement solutions to complex product, process and equipment problems
- Participate and lead in design, installation, startup and operations maintenance and improvement of a variety of chemical process equipment
- Responsible for initiation of product and process related ideas that generate improvement projects throughout the polyester stream
- Provide project management and technical support for capital projects
- Serve on or lead teams responsible for long-term process improvement planning and cost savings and / or reliability projects
- Evaluate new product, process and / or equipment applications and recommend and implement improvements to existing product, equipment or processes
- Provide technical support to various manufacturing and operations group
- Assist in check out and start-up on new processes and equipment, which may include shift coverage of varying durations
Required Skills
Skills & Qualifications :
- Current student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college / university
- Majoring in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 0-2 years experience is a manufacturing facility is preferred
- Fundamental understanding of statistics as it applies to designed experiments and understanding process variability.
- Working knowledge of or willingness to learn about process control systems in a DCS environment.
- Good analytical skills (ability to interpret process historical trends, analytical results, etc.)
- Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Ability to successfully work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team seeking to continuously improve supply chain performance and customer satisfaction
- Results oriented. Ability to translate key area and business needs into the right priorities and action
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access Database)
