Medical Biller is responsible for managing the billing process to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for medical services provided.
This role involves working closely with healthcare providers, coding specialists, and insurance companies to facilitate the billing cycle.
Responsibilities
Insurance Verification
- Receive bookings from physicians’ offices and input to booking system accordingly.
- Obtain pre-authorization for medical services as required by insurance providers.
- Verify patients' insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Obtain and update necessary insurance information in appropriate software.
- Confirm medical codes assigned to procedures and diagnoses based on documentation.
Billing Process
- Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims.
- Work closely with Billing Processor on resolving billing discrepancies and denials.
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation for each charge.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, coding specialists, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure accurate and complete documentation for billing purposes.
- Work closely with Physicians’ offices to obtain any missing or clarifying information. And address coding and billing matters.
Reports and Analytics
- Review reports related to billing and reimbursement and update as needed.
- Provide regular updates on the financial status of accounts.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in medical billing, preferably in a GI Center or related healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical coding systems (such as ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
- Familiarity with insurance claim submission and reimbursement processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using billing software and electronic health records.
