It does this through monitoring the adherence of both the individual and their provider(s) to a civil court ordered care coordination / treatment plan.

Psychiatrists work under the direction of a borough AOT medical director as part of a multidisciplinary team. The available position is on the Brooklyn / Staten Island AOT Team but are based at the DOHMH offices in Long Island City, Queens. Duties include :

  • Reviewing records and examining individuals to determine need for initial or ongoing AOT.
  • Documenting examinations.
  • Testifying in court.
  • Serving as a consultant to non-medical team members.

Some court hearings are currently held in person at Brooklyn or Staten Island supreme court and some are remote. Examinations are currently held remotely.

A hybrid (up to 2 days a week remote) work schedule is available. Salary and benefits are provided through the NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Board certification is strongly preferred.
