Senior Accounts Payable Specialist
Location : Phoenix, Arizona
This is a hybrid position. After training you will be in the office 2 days per week / 3 from home)
Salary : 50k - 60k (DOE)
Overview
The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist plays a pivotal role in the financial operations of a well-known and respected not-for-profit company by managing the accounts payable process.
This position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills to ensure that payments are processed efficiently and accurately.
The Senior AP Specialist will provide guidance and support as needed and will collaborate closely with other departments to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities :
- Invoice Processing : Manage the full cycle of accounts payable processing including receiving, reviewing, coding, 3 -way match, and processing invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Vendor Management : Maintain relationships with vendors, resolve billing discrepancies, and ensure timely payments to vendors to maintain good standing and favorable terms.
- Expense Reporting : Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and timely reimbursement.
- Month-End Closing : Assist with month-end closing processes, including reconciling accounts payable transactions, preparing accruals, and providing support for financial reporting.
- Team Leadership : Provide guidance, training, and support to junior accounts payable staff, ensuring that team members have the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties effectively.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in the accounts payable process, implementing best practices to streamline workflows and reduce errors.
- Compliance : Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies governing accounts payable transactions, including tax requirements and internal controls.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounts payable, with 3-way match, in a fast-paced deadline oriented environment.
- Experience using Oracle software preferred. Experience with an ERP system a must!
- Proficiency in Excel
- Experience in a not-for-profit environment is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Organizational Skills : Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a positive attitude and willingness to assist others as needed.
