Job Summary :
The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for the development and management of strategies to engage the community (clients, partners, and supporters).
S / he will work to ensure the identification of resources, produce educational materials, and coordinate services for vulnerable immigrant clients through community outreach, coordination with partners, referrals, and data management to ensure effective and holistic client care and representation.
This position is also in charge of supervising IMMREFESL information line, and reception to ensure the community seeking services is supported through appropriate referrals and in a trauma-informed manner.
This position will also support the legal team in a number of activities and assist as needed to support services provided to clients.
Outreach is a communication bridge between CCANO's programs and community groups, service providers, institutions, and community members aiming to build partnerships share information, and connect people to supportive services.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills with experience in community outreach, organized with the ability to multitask and support our various programs.

Duties / Responsibilities
Outreach & Communications (25% Effort)
- Conduct regular outreach with community partners to maintain and develop group programming and community referrals for
- Develops and supports relationships with catholic parishes as well as with other faith- based organizations and
- Provides regular updates to program staff, CCANO programs, and community collaborators as well as shares or host and develop content for the program's social media page (in the coordination of advancement)
- Coordinate services with key stakeholders - Includes liaising and building a network of relationships with other professionals, paraprofessionals, legal, and social service providers and establish standard protocols and referral procedures to ensure holistic care and ongoing
- Represents the agency at events, coalition meetings, and taskforces, participate in community outreach events which may include talks, presentations, resource fairs, and interviews.
IMMREFESL Information, Reception, and Info Lines (25% Effort)

- Develops strategies to improve services and information offered through
- Maintains partner and services database and legal referrals
Responsibilities to Legal Services (20% Effort)
- Assist immigration legal services with logistics and coordination of group-based client activities such as community orientation (CO)
- Develops and offers the Know Your Rights (KYR)
- Trains staff and volunteers to provide (KYR)
- Helps organized and implement monthly to weekly legal clinics overseeing the daily operations, and coordination of staff providing services and clients' needs during these events.
- Responsibilities to Refugee Services (20% Effort)
- Assist refugee services with logistics and coordination of group-based client activities such as community
- Lead virtual New Asylee Benefits Orientations each
- Manage private, and community donations and maintain records of
- Lead communications with external partners including donors, landlords, collaborative community agencies, etc.
Responsibilities to ESL (10% Effort )
- Assist in recruiting ESL and Family literacy
- Assist in coordinating engagement activities and events for
Other tasks and responsibilities :

Physical Requirements :

Minimum Educational and General Qualifications :
Applicants that are self-motivated, engaging, and organized. Must have excellent communications skills, and knowledge of the community.
Applicants with an interest in legal or social services, legal or social policy, and practice, or immigrant and refugee issues are highly encouraged to
- Good knowledge of relevant community resources in the Greater New Orleans area and beyond.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn immigration database / software.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (verbal and written) required.
- Degree in relevant legal or social science field from an accredited institution preferred; Highschool diploma required,
- Proven experience in community outreach or community education, program coordination, management, and supervision
- Experience collecting data and reporting on specific task and
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including maintaining effective work
- Strong management and organizational skills, and ability to work across all levels of management and staff.

- Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and sensitivity to the special needs of multi-cultural immigrant children, adults, and

- Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, a clean driving record, and personal transportation. Position may require local and long-distance travel and ability to travel with limited notice.
