Mechanical Piping Designer

This position ensures that all the mechanical piping systems and structures are being designed as per the government rules and regulation and that quality standards are being maintained at optimum level.

Ensure that the work performed is complete, accurate and that it adheres by the drawing specifications and practical design methods.

Develop and maintain proficiency and competency in the application of engineering principles, mechanical designing, analysis and development of mechanical systems.

Requirements

• Lead the design of larger and more complex mechanical / piping assignments.
• Work under general supervision.
• Analyze the flexibility of piping systems.
• Expertise in manual valve sizing along with its use and application.
• Create accurate mechanical / piping installation documents from various project documents.
• Understand project workflow / information flow between disciplines.
• Forecast projects and estimate completions with accuracy.
• Develop design and draft drawings of various complexity such as P&ID's, GA's, pipe specifications, tie-in's, equipment drawings, etc.
• Prepare material take-offs from drawings.
• On-site assistance as required by the project.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Must be capable piping design with software programs such as CADWorx Pipe.
• Understand pipe design and inline instrumentation arrangements such as pump suctions and discharges, tanks, control valve stations, etc.
• Understand specification and installation details along with formulation of bulk materials and equipment documents.
• Must have basic use and knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
• Working knowledge of 2D and 3D AutoCAD.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Required Education & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in Engineering within the Oil & Gas field.
• Must have relevant experience in the industrial markets of mechanical / piping drafting and design.
• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
• A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk.
• Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
• Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Long hours on computer keyboard.
