They are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in municipality accounting and fund accounting.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing daily accounting tasks, as well as month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for our clients.

This role requires travel throughout Long Island and occasionally to upstate New York.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform daily accounting duties, including ledger entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee fund accounting and ensure proper allocation and reporting of funds.
• Collaborate with school district personnel to address and resolve accounting issues.
• Conduct audits and prepare for external audits as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
• Utilize accounting software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
• Travel to various school districts throughout Long Island and occasionally upstate New York to provide onsite accounting support.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in school district accounting and fund accounting.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing direct reports.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to travel as required.

Target salary range : $120,000 to $160,000 / year depending on experience.
