Our work depends on a Senior Data Scientist to develop, lead, and operate Insider Threat programs at Federal agencies. As a Senior Data Scientist , you will implement GDIT’s cutting-edge Insider Threat technologies and processes to enhance the protection of our nation’s high-value assets and mission-critical data.
The ideal candidate has experience with Insider Threat programs and tools in the Federal sector. You will help our customers meet mission needs by putting the policies, processes, and tools in place to strengthen protections against vulnerabilities inside the firewall.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT :
Performs scientific work associated with the analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets.
Uses large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization. Uses models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.
Mines and analyzes data, using a variety of data tools, building, and implementing models, using / creating algorithms, and creating / running simulations.
Develops processes and machine learning-based tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
Works with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
Assesses the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques. Drives business results with data-based insights.
Develops data-driven solutions to unusually complex business challenges.
Utilizes advanced tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict, and make discoveries in complex data and deliver recommendations for business and uses predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.
May coach and review the work of less experienced profession.
May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager).
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED :
Required Qualifications :
Required Education : Masters and 10+ years of relevant experience.
Experience implementing and supporting Insider Threat programs within the Financial Services Industry or US Intelligence Community.
Apply analytical rigor and statistical methods on data in all its forms including structured and unstructured data to form, develop and provide advice and recommendations.
Experience developing methods and techniques to improve data quality.
Expertise in Data Extraction, specifically the ability to obtain data from variant sources and manipulate the data to support many analytical models and filters.
Experience clustering large amounts of user-generated content and process data in large-scale environments using Amazon EC2, Storm, Hadoop, Spark etc.
Experience performing explanatory data analyses, generate and test working hypotheses, prepare and analyze historical data and identify patterns and correlations.
Recommended Skills and Abilities :
Experience developing software applications and provide software domain expertise to solve computer science cyber issues and associated forensics with a focus on insider threat a plus.
Location : DC metro area preferred but remote applicants considered. Team members living in the DC metro need to travel to client sites at the discretion of the government lead.
The Government site is in Lanham, MD.
Citizen : Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background investigation.

The likely salary range for this position is $122,366 - $204,360. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
