Minimum Requirements and Experience
- High School Diploma / Equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be at Least 18 years old
- Must be able to pass drug and background screening
- Must be able to Speak, Read and Write English Language
Preferred Education and Experience
One year of experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and / or mental health.
Position Type / Expected hours of work
This is a full time position (40 hours per week) Employee will work a rotating schedule (including weekends) as needed to provide direct support and supervision of clients.
As this is a residential setting, employees are assigned shifts. Employee must be able to flex hours and work at least 8 hours per day with no restrictions to meet the needs of facility.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for ensuring Bingham Garden residents are given ample and sufficient supports and services necessary to ensure they can become an active member within the community which will assist with enhancing their lives.
- Ensures the safety, welfare, and the preservation of rights of residents. Interactions with residents, staff, and visitors should always be with respect and dignity.
Completes monitoring of resident activities across all shifts to ensure resident treatment plans and facility policies are followed.
- Understand and implement behavioral programs.
- Assist each resident with opportunities to learn new skills throughout the day. This may include formalized training of skills as outlined in each resident’s (ILP) as well as incidental learning in the course of the day.
- Assists residents with completing daily living skills which include but are not limited to grooming, bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, toileting.
- Assists residents with cooking and preparation of meals and snacks.
- Assists home management staff to ensure each resident has enough, clean, and well-fitting clothing. Ensures each client is dressed / groomed appropriately for the day / activity.
- Assist residents in participating in special occasions in the community, routine shopping, going out to eat, attending religious and / or recreational activities of their choosing, attending medical appointments, and other recreational activities.
- Completes and maintains a wide variety of documentation throughout the day. All documentation should be maintained in a confidential manner.
- Assist residents in on and off grounds employment and Enrichment Center activities. This may include driving the resident to the designated location.
- Must be able to work a minimum of at least 8.0 hours per day with no restrictions and accept mandatory overtime assignments as required to meet facility needs.
