About The Position
Job Title : Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty : Respiratory Care Practitioner Job Duration : 12 Weeks Shift : Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM Guaranteed Hours : 36 Hours per Week Experience : - Must have experience in acute areas such as ICU and ED- Pediatric / neonatal experience preferred - 6 months post-graduate acute care experience License : Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License Certifications : - Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)- Basic Life Support (BLS)- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Must-Have : - Graduate of an approved CoARC RCP Program (if hired after 1982)- Proficiency in English (read, write, speak) Job Description : Deliver safe, effective, quality respiratory care according to the philosophy and goals of Respiratory Care Services.
- Utilize the Relationship Based Care Model to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients.- Make determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals.
- Establish therapeutic professional relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.- Provide care according to the specific physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs of patients.
- Act as a patient advocate by facilitating informed decision-making.- Demonstrate a current working knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care treatments and adapt plans as necessary.- Act as a liaison to coordinate patient care activities with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals.
- Utilize effective communication skills for patient hand-offs and documentation.- Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
- Document patient care according to hospital policies and utilize manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency.
