The Sr. Payroll Specialist II will manage the bi-weekly payroll function for multiple entities; ensure accurate and timely reporting on all payroll-related accounts, feeds, and deductions.
This position is responsible for researching and responding to employee and Human Resource Department inquires and creating / maintaining ad-hoc reporting as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Ensures accurate processing and recording of the organization’s payroll
- Provides timely and accurate financial information related to payroll and staff benefits
- Manages workflows and payroll transactions for accurate and timely reporting
- Executes time and attendance processing, interfaces with payroll system
- Serves as a subject matter expert in payroll and timekeeping software
- Develops custom reports in Payroll and Timekeeping Software
- Reviews timesheets to ensure accuracy and time reported is in accordance with Fund policies
- Performs changes in policy profiles, accrual rules and pay codes in the timekeeping and payroll software as HR policies are updated
- Compiles data from payroll system and third-party vendors and performs reconciliations
- Trouble-shoots and resolves issues with vendor feeds
- Processes 401(k) deferrals, loans, and employer match in an accurate and timely manner
- Calculates and processes PTO payouts, manuals, and final pays in accordance with state requirements
- Trains new hires / timekeepers in timekeeping software
- Maintains and reconciles various workpapers for payroll-related accounts, records transactions to the general ledger
- Compiles bi-weekly invoices to bill company’s Leased employees
- Maintains and processes registration paperwork for new states and tracking of payments due to / from outside Agencies
- Supports Payroll Supervisor and Controller for preparation of quarterly tax Form 941 and annual form 940
- Identifies and implements potential process improvement / automation opportunities
- Remains current on payroll-related tax laws
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 10 years of direct experience processing payroll
- Associate's degree in Accounting / Finance or related field or equivalent work experience required
- Kronos, ADP and Concur knowledge preferred.
Salary range for this position : Salary $57,900 - $72,400. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to : relevant experience, qualifications, expertise, certifications, licenses, education or equivalent work experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
Work Schedule (may vary to meet business needs) : Monday Friday, 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week) with potential for hybrid work-from-home arrangement.
