Job Description
The Social Science Faculty Group at Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a guest position in Public Policy for the academic year 2024-2025.
The position is half-time, teaching one course each semester (two days on campus per week.) Most classes are small seminars accompanied by biweekly individual meetings between faculty and student to oversee their research projects.
Lectures are capped at 45 students, and Service-learning classes are also possible.
We seek a teacher / scholar whose research interests are focused on the intersections between public policy and social justice.
Specific areas of focus may include immigration and race, labor studies, gender and sexuality, law and society, and / or other dimensions of economic and political inequality.
The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching and have demonstrated excellence in teaching Public Policy at the undergraduate level both in the classroom and with individual students.
Applicants should submit a C.V., proposed syllabi for two courses, a statement of teaching philosophy, a sample of writing, and two references.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Compensation listed for this position is on a per-course basis, contingent on teaching experience, ranging from $10,500 to $14,000
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. (or ABD) in a social science or a related discipline by the time of appointment;
experience working with community-based organizations is desirable.
