The ASC Registered Nurse - Cath Lab is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients during their admission, procedure, and recovery of therapeutic and diagnostic cardiovascular procedures.

Principal Responsibilities
ADMISSION - Greet patient and instruct in changing into appropriate attire. Complete pre-operative assessment, document on appropriate chart forms and administer pre-op orders (.
medications, IV's). Provide pre-operative teaching to patients and significant others. Consult with other members of the health care team members regarding patient care.
PROCEDURE Accompany patient to the procedure room. Perform intraoperative duties such as completing the medical record, maintaining and observing sterile technique, and supplying the team with sterile supplies as needed.
Provide conscious sedation, per proceduralist order and continuously assess patient condition while monitoring vitals. Accompany patient to the recovery room and give reports, as needed.
- POST-PROCEDURAL CARE - Assess and monitor the patient during their recovery. Complete applicable records. Administer medications as ordered.
- DISCHARGE - Assist patient in preparing for discharge and give home instructions with patient education materials. Discharge the patient per orders of the proceduralist to a responsible person, following established guidelines.
- Nurses will be cross-trained to work other areas in the facility utilizing those nursing skills and techniques necessary to meet the patients' needs and provide quality care.
- Maintain the facility in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety, monitoring vitals and administering medications as ordered.
- Collaborate with Cardiologist and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Document and maintain accurate patient records, procedure logs, and required paperwork.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, adhering to Infection Control and Quality standards.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, providing support in critical scenarios.
- Responsible when using Springfield Clinic computers and telephones when needed for patient care.
- Proficient use of multiple computer systems relating to job.
- Restock supplies as indicated daily.
- Check crash cart, defibrillator and medications daily, see that all equipment is present and in working order.
- Complete pre-procedure and post-procedure phone calls as needed.
- Provide orientation / training to new employees within the department.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Three to five (3-5) years of Cardiac, Vascular, or Interventional nursing experience.
Licenses / Certificates
- Licensure as an RN in the State of Illinois.
- ACLS certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 90 days of employment.
- CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.

- Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment and adjust to various personalities and situations.
- Must maintain professional behavior.
- Possess manual dexterity to use keyboard and handle equipment and appliances.
- Capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting, and twisting.
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
- Must appear well groomed.
Working Environment
- Conditions include exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue and contagious diseases and / or potentially hazardous materials.
- Occasional heavy lifting required.
