Matrix Design Group, Inc., an employee-owned planning, engineering, and environmental consulting firm is actively seeking a Project Accountant (internally Project Billing Administrator) in our Colorado Springs or Lone Tree office.

Salary Range : $23.00 - $30.00 per hour. This salary is displayed in compliance with state requirements. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.

Summary :

The Project Accountant will be responsible for providing project accounting and administrative support to ensure projects are set up, maintained, and invoiced in accordance with the contract requirements.

Essential Functions :

  • Perform monthly project invoicing to be compliant with contractual terms.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure contracts and / or sub agreements and change orders are in place for all projects.
  • Process client contracts and maintain contract library.
  • Ensure all assigned functions are carried out in compliance with client contracts and established company procedures.
  • Create invoice status reports for project manager and / or department manager as needed.
  • Complete project documentation and maintain document files.
  • Setup, maintain and closeout projects in Unanet A / E accounting system.
  • Calculate and track project completion rates.
  • Track completion dates and communicate project status to project managers.
  • Create monthly project costs to date reports.
  • Monitor client portals for notices, certificates of insurance, acknowledgements or other documents as required.
  • Track work in progress (WIP) monthly and communicate updates to manager.
  • Attend project billing and project management review meetings.
  • Maintain current certificate of insurance (COI) for sub-consultants.
  • Assist with accounting projects as needed.
  • May assist with weekly deposits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information.

Competencies :

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel and ability to learn new programs effectively.
  • Desire to produce high-quality work with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and customer service skills.
  • General understanding of accounting principles.
  • Ability to pass a background check. Final offer of this position will be contingent on the candidate successfully passing a background check.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

None.

Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent, undergraduate degree desired.
  • Experience using Unanet A / E or other ERP software.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in project cost accounting preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR requirements.
