Talascend is currently seeking a Product Development Engineer for a contract opportunity in Franklin, TN
SUMMARY :
Performs the technical development / engineering of products for after-warranty service applications with assistance / support from a Senior Engineer or Manager.
Assists with market research and business case analysis to expand the product line. Provides technical assistance to other engineers and departments, addresses engineering issues, and communicates product concerns to management for resolution.
Contributes to building brand value and achieving profitable growth.
JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Develops product specifications to ensure compatibility with Original Equipment parts. Issues specifications to suppliers and collaborates with suppliers, OEM Product Engineers, Global After-Sales, NML Product Quality Engineers, and Client Design Standards to define part performance and testing requirements.
- Supports supplier sourcing through technical assessments and facility audits. Conducts CAD / Drawing design studies and part application studies using IT systems (e.g., G2B, TCE, FAST).
- Manages product development schedules using project management skills to meet objectives. Identifies issues, proposes countermeasures, and tracks progress.
- Supports the Sales and Marketing team in developing product marketing materials. Investigates field incidents, analyzes data, and prepares reports.
Monitors safety, regulatory, or emissions-related issues, and supports investigations.
Performs additional related duties as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Job Knowledge and Skill : Basic understanding of automotive design, development processes, production troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Experience : Minimum of two years of relevant engineering experience.
- Education : Engineering degree (BSME, BSEE, or BS Chemical Engineering) required.
- Computer Skills : Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Travel : Limited; occasional travel to Farmington Hills, MI, or suppliers.
ADDITIONAL NOTES :
- The sole engineer in this HQ group; other engineers are based in Farmington Hills, MI.
- Responsibilities include testing products, releasing drawings, and evaluating supplier quality systems.
