Clinical Assistant Professor for the Mental Health Counseling Program

The Department of Educational and Psychological Studies in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami seeks an outstanding Clinical Assistant Professor for our Mental Health Counseling Program.
This non-tenure-track clinical faculty position requires a combination of knowledge of mental health counseling, administrative skills, and teaching experience, focusing on teaching graduate-level courses in the department.
In addition to leading the Mental Health Counseling program, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses and advising students across our doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate programs and providing service to the program, department, and university.
The mission of the master’s program in Mental Health Counseling is to provide excellent preparation for research-based, professional practice in counseling through the integration of theory, research, and skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Management of the Mental Health Counseling Program.
- Coordinate with faculty, staff, and other university departments to ensure programmatic goals are met.
- Facilitate program accreditation and ensure all the program meets state standards for licensure
- Facilitate program alignment with State regulations for program graduates’ licensure as mental health counselors.
- Represent the program at university meetings, conferences, and other relevant events.
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and workshops.
- Mentor and supervise students throughout their academic journey.
- Stay updated with the latest research and developments in mental health counseling and integrate them into the curriculum.
Licensure :
- Maintain an active mental health license in Florida or be eligible for licensure.
- Promote ethical standards and professional development among students.
- Advise students on licensure requirements and the licensure process in Florida.
Required Qualifications :
- A doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Clinical-Community Psychology.
- Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state of Florida.
- Extensive knowledge of mental health counseling theories, practices, and assessment techniques.
- A track record of teaching and evidence of excellence at the post-secondary level.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program and the wider university community.
