Primary Function

At A.O. Smith, we recognize the critical role of an E-learning Instructional Designer in crafting impactful and engaging learning experiences for technical training content.

We are looking for an E-learning Instructional Designer to join our team, contributing to the development of high-quality, interactive training material that supports our Enterprise Applications like SAP and Salesforce in a diverse, multi-language, global environment

Responsibilities

  • Analyze learning needs in collaboration with business and application teams to identify key training requirements.
  • Apply Instructional System Design (ISD) best practices using the ADDIE model.
  • Design instructional content using innovative and interactive methods and technologies to enhance the learning process.
  • Develop educational support materials, ensuring alignment with the needs of our audience and desired learning outcomes.
  • Create and manage a centralized repository of modular training components, optimizing content reuse across various modules.
  • Utilize version control systems to track changes, ensuring consistency and a systematic approach to scalable and adaptable content development.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, subject matter experts, and key users to create effective educational content.
  • Ensure consistency across functional teams by following a defined style guide and using standardized templates.
  • Follow established, standardized project management processes to plan, document, manage and report on project status.
  • Develop training material that aligns with accessibility guidelines and caters to our diverse, multi-language, global environment.
  • Incorporate interactive elements like exercises, gamification, and assessments to create a captivating learning experience.
  • Facilitate annual and real-time reviews to keep training material current, accurate, and in sync with system updates.
  • Publish material to SuccessFactors Learning Management System (LMS) for effective assignment, progress tracking, and completion monitoring.
  • Utilize Service Now knowledge management to ensure widespread availability of training material.
  • Establish and track content usage and training effectiveness metrics.
  • Develop customized learning paths and recommend courses based on specific roles within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years’ experience planning and designing inter-active multimedia training tools, including instructional design, course development, and in project management.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in instructional design using computer-based tools in the development, management, and the delivery of E-Learning products with a focus on global, Enterprise Applications like SAP and Salesforce.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility guidelines and multi-language support in training material for a global audience.
  • Experience with industry-standard authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline / 365 and Adobe Captivate for interactive e-Learning content.
  • Proficiency in multimedia tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop) and software like Camtasia for screen recording and video
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (SmartSheets, Kanban boards, SharePoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Naturally curious, a quick learner and strong problem solver
  • Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail

Preferred Skills :

  • Familiarity with SuccessFactors Learning and Service Now knowledge management.
  • Proficiency in leveraging diverse communication channels for effective outreach.
