Wage band range $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
Starting pay is typically around $19.00 per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
Full time night shift roles are eligible for a night shift pay differential. This position does offer future growth opportunities.
Nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in Camarillo, Casa Pacifica’s 25-acre Camino a Casa’s beautiful rural setting is four miles from the Pacific Ocean and midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.
Under the direction and guidance of the Cottage Supervisor and NOC Lead, is responsible for the care and treatment of children / adolescents housed in the cottage(s).
The NOC shift Youth Development Specialist works closely with the NOC Lead and NOC Floats during their evening shifts. The Youth Development Specialist carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it relates to day-to-day care and treatment of youths via meeting program and treatment objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities) :
- The NOC shift Youth Development Specialist is responsible for providing bedroom checks, preparing meals and general housekeeping of cottage and kitchen area.
- Supervises, protects and cares for the children / adolescents individually and in groups.
- Provides assistance to each child working with in a group and handling individual problems.
- Administers discipline and sets limits for behavior.
- Notates the child's / adolescent's progress; identifies the possible need for professional services and communicates such findings to professional staff.
- Functions as a Primary Counselor, i.e., mentor, parent figure, and advocate for children during the NOC shift.
- Communicates critical information about each child assigned to him / her to cottage and activity staff. Communicates daily with members of the treatment team about the child's progress.
- Assists in developing daily and weekly goals for the assigned child(ren) assigned to him / her.
- Assures implementation of intervention plans developed by treatment team. Informs all parties that need to know (school, cottages, activities, medical clinic, clinical staff, etc.
about special interventions that have been developed.
- Assures that safety plans are in place and that they are understood by cottage and behavior specialist staff.
