Responsibilities
and Duties
- Leadership Provides effective leadership in developing and retaining a competent, high-performing, and professional staff.
- Governance : Serves as advisor to the Board, providing relevant materials to assist the Board in making data-driven decisions.
Provides operational oversight and policy execution for all committees, work groups, and task forces.
- Advocacy : Guides the organization’s advocacy initiatives with direction from the Board of Directors
- Strategic Planning : Develops and updates as appropriate strategic and financial plans, establishing short and long-range goals, measurable objectives, and timeline for implementation in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Operational and Fiscal Management :
- Develops an annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors; prudently manages the organization's resources within budget guidelines.
- Oversees the financial and operational reporting, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
- Implements effective risk management and compliance practices.
- External Relations : Collaborates with the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG), other private and public state entities as well as national healthcare organizations and agencies as needed.
- Membership Development :
- Oversees recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies for members.
- Ensures that member services meet the needs of members.
- Regularly assesses member satisfaction and implements improvements based on feedback.
- Communications : Facilitates and supports efforts to move MAA initiatives forward through clear and effective communication to the general membership and sponsors.
Designs, implements, and coordinates activities to develop and grow non-dues revenue with sponsor partners.
- Community Engagement : Enhances the organization's visibility and influence by establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders including hospitals, educational institutions, local governments, and nonprofit organizations.
- Board Relations : Advises and informs the Board members about the conditions, operations, and other key metrics impacting the organization.
Prepares and presents regular reports on the progress and challenges facing the organization. Supports the Board in its governance function and facilitates the optimum performance of the board and its committees.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and Master's degree preferred
- Minimum 15 years’ work experience in a complex organization(s), with demonstrated success in leading, planning and organizing operations.
- Budget management skills including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
- Experience with successfully managing and motivating a staff team, with experience hiring and conducting regular performance appraisals.
- Experience in association management and willing to pursue a Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. CAE certification preferred.
- Experience collaborating with volunteer committees and boards of directors.
- Experience with coalition and collaborative relationship management; willingness to engage and collaborate with other health care organizations in the state.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong public speaking skills.
- Experience with many types of technology including Microsoft Office, virtual meeting applications and social media.
- Highest ethical character.
