Technician
Marty's Orchid House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) therapeutic and medical day center for preschoolers with sensory processing disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and overlapping health conditions.
We are looking for a passionate and compassionate technician to join our team to work directly in the classrooms with an assigned group of children.

Our program is very therapy-based, with a 3 : 1 classroom ratio. The Orchid House Technician must have extensive patience with children with special needs, use positive reinforcement to reward positive behaviors, have the ability to ignore negative behaviors, and remain consistent in classroom routines under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
You will be trained extensively on how to implement behavior therapy techniques in the classroom.
The Orchid House Technician (OHT) is a paraprofessional who works in the classroom directly with children in the medical and therapeutic day center setting.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Report to the Director of Nursing;
- Provide hands-on direct care to a child including toileting, feeding, and assistance with activities of daily living;
- Conduct follow-through therapies per instructions and within the OHT’s scope of practice;
- Engage a child in classroom activities and assist the Lead Teacher as needed;
- Document the care provided per facility policies and procedures in the Electronic Health Record;
- Communicate with the nurses, therapists, Lead Teacher, and Director of Nursing on the progress, goals, and concerns related to a child’s care plan;
- At times, care for a child one-on-one (after training this may apply to a child with specific and more challenging sensory and / or behavior needs); and
- Light cleaning of the facility after activities, meals, and at closing time.

- Child-Care, experience with Autism, and / or mental health experience recommended
- Attendance is of utmost importance-must have reliable transportation, child-care, and excellent adherence to the schedule.
Frequent call-ins will not be compatible with this position.
- 40-hour position Monday - Friday 9-5 : 30pm, or other agreed-upon schedule
