What We Want
The Instructional Designer II will support faculty in their application of digital learning technologies, strategies, and best practices that support the academic mission of the College of Arts and Sciences.
In this role, the Instructional Designer will work directly with faculty to understand pedagogical and curricular needs as a precursor to the digital learning technologies, strategies, and best practices applied to courses, with a commitment to meeting the various needs of students across Texas A&M University.
The Instructional Designer will work with faculty who deliver instruction across different teaching modalities in the College to enhance and improve instruction through the application of the digital learning environment.
The selected candidate will collaborate in the design and implementation of innovative training opportunities for course instructors within the College of Arts & Sciences, as well as tracks and assess outcomes from training offerings to continuously improve delivery.
Additional duties for this position will include working with data produced by the digital learning environment to inform decisions on third-party tools, student success, and faculty development and supporting an Online Learning Program in a part-time capacity.

Salary : Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Special note : This is not a remote opportunity. The selected candidate will be expected to work in person at the College Station campus.
This position may also require travel to various locations on and off campus to meet with departments or groups as needed or assigned.
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and experience
2 years of related experience in instructional design or educational technology or related fields
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Skilled in writing, proofreading, graphic design, and / or editing instructional or design materials
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities
Preferred Education and Experience :
Experience in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, graphic design, faculty development, workshop facilitation, and engaging adult learners
Experience in meeting the needs of faculty and students in a higher education setting
Experience with using contemporary technologies in an integrated digital learning environment
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to learn and demonstrate skill working within a digital learning environment to enhance instructional delivery across various teaching modalities
Demonstrated creativity, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with sights set on innovative solutions
Apply pedagogical best practices for all learners
Understanding of key performance indicators of student success
Proficiency in Canvas learning management system and associated third-party tools (Google, Zoom, Microsoft)
Ability to relate well and communicate with a variety of students
Knowledge of assessment of student learning outcomes
Ability to track metrics and apply assessment outcomes in a continuous improvement model
Understanding of compliance measures for security, accessibility, and the protection of student data in the digital learning environment
Ability to troubleshoot and support faculty’s use of learning technologies in a fast-paced environment within a large College
Responsibilities :
Faculty Support : Works collaboratively with a team of instructional designers and multimedia specialists supporting digital learning in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Leads others through the design process and makes key recommendations for design. Plans, develops and delivers guidance in instructional strategies and course design.
Contributes to College-wide training programs and support services that are informed by best practices in digital learning.
Leads and oversees course design and development projects. Hosts scheduled office hours weekly to provide faculty with live support on Canvas, 3rd party tools, and other digital learning questions.
Completes special projects related to the digital learning environment upon direction of the Director of Digital Learning.
Online Program Support : Supports the Geosciences Online Program by assisting with course layout, tool best practices, accessibility, and recording.
Coordinates with course instructor, instructional design team, and multimedia team. Will work under the direction of the Director of Distance Education in Geography.
Support Documents and Repository Management : Creates and reviews training documents and videos to support faculty in their use of Canvas, 3rd party tools, and other digital learning initiatives.
Maintains the layout and content of the repository that is available to faculty in an online environment. Works with team members on updated content and needs.
Tool Data and Analysis : Reviews digital learning tool data on usage by ArtSci faculty. Recommends support based on data.
Provides recommendations on future tool usage following trends and best practices.
Academic Liaison : Attend monthly meetings with multiple teams at the University level. Act as a liaison between the College and the University teams on digital learning issues and information.
Assist with tool testing at the College level.
