The Associate Director of the NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) is a trained infection preventionist charged with providing infection prevention consultation and education to all health care facilities acute care, long-term care, ambulatory care, and home care settings) in the state of North Carolina.
The Associate Director will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating, training and educational course content for all SPICE courses offered in person, online or hybrid format and will serve as the lead instructor for SPICE courses Infection Control in Long Term Care Facilities’;
Infection Control Part 1 : Surveillance of Healthcare Associated Infections’ and Infection Control Part 2 : The Infection Preventionist as an Environmentalist’.
The Associate Director will also be responsible for overall administration of the SPICE Program including oversight and administration of applied research projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent);
for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities related to consulting or developing course content, curriculum, instructional technique / technology, distance education design, development or implementation, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience in infection prevention / control and epidemiology required.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience working with a variety of healthcare settings and professionals acute care, post-acute care, ambulatory care) is preferred.
- Infection Prevention leadership (program director or manager) experience is preferred.
- The ability to effectively communicate with a variety of healthcare professionals and leaders is preferred.
