We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our school district in Whitman on a contracted basis.
As a contracted Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional educational support to students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with the IEP team.
- Deliver specialized instruction and interventions to students with disabilities, utilizing appropriate teaching strategies and accommodations.
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional techniques to meet individual student needs and promote their academic progress.
- Assess students' educational progress regularly and modify instructional methods accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to promote an inclusive learning environment and ensure that students' needs are met in the least restrictive environment.
- Provide guidance and support to general education teachers in implementing accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information.
- Communicate regularly with parents / guardians to provide feedback on student progress and address their concerns.
- Attend IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions as required.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid IL teaching license in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with specific learning disabilities, emotional / behavioral disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Strong understanding of evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents / guardians, and external stakeholders.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and comply with administrative requirements.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
