Position Summary

The Rocky Mountain Program (RMP) Warehouse Manager works with the RMP team to provide support to the warehouse and logistics systems.

The Warehouse Manager is a mid-level seasonal program position with supervisory responsibilities in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including general warehouse and course-related resource management, organization, inventory, and cleaning.

The Warehouse Manager will also provide support with training, scheduling, and mentoring of staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Serves as a collaborative and active member of the Rocky Mountain Program Leadership Team to ensure high quality logistical support for all our courses and students.
  • Manages warehouse systems to ensure easy packing, cleaning, repairing, and inventorying of gear, food, and supplies.
  • Develops and manages Logistics Coordinators through active coaching / mentoring and utilization of organizational performance and goals documents.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Program Director of Logistics, oversees development and implementation of logistics training and continued performance management of logistics staff.
  • Facilitates warehouse meetings and resource allocation as requested.
  • Upholds and follows all policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the Logistics On-Call System by supporting evacuations, responding to field emergencies when needed, and following the Emergency Response Plan (ERP).

Equipment & Food Systems

  • Supports and orients new and returning staff to warehouse and logistics procedures to ensure accurate quantities of food and equipment for each course.
  • Assists with maintaining food service compliance and ensures safe, healthy, efficient, and clean warehouse practices.
  • Manages, assists with, and reports on inventories of food, gear, supplies, and first aid.
  • Oversees weekly vehicle checks and reports maintenance and monthly mileage.
  • Manages gear repairs and provides information to the logistics team on equipment conditions and needs.
  • Ensures safe, healthy, and efficient daily warehouse operations.
  • Assists with other support duties, including but not limited to transporting students, shopping for food, and packing food and gear.
  • Oversees warehouse cleanliness and food room restock before courses start.
  • Assists with pre-season and post-season preparation, inventories, and warehouse shutdown.

Community Building

  • Assists with basecamp upkeep, standards, and systems, including ensuring dorms are stocked and clean for programs.
  • Attends community and morning meetings regularly.
  • Oversees the collection and placement of receipts and invoices in the appropriate locations as designated by the Associate Program Director of Logistics.

This includes food, gear orders, and vehicle maintenance.

Assists in planning and executing RMP staff events and celebrations.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Personal commitment to, and working knowledge of, the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience working with and maintaining inventory and tracking systems.
  • Equipment repair and maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office platform.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive and effective communicator and collaborator.
  • Experience driving large vehicles with trailers preferred.

Work Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in the outdoor education / experiential learning field or any other similar combination.
  • Manager experience 1-3 years of experience.
  • Wilderness First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Must have held a driver’s license for over 5 years.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Expect to work 5 days / week with work and on-call duties over weekends and / or holidays as needed.
  • Ability to engage in all site and course activities and to maintain energy, strength, and focus to support students and staff.
  • Ability to participate in vigorous to moderate physical activity including but not limited to camping.
  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions, occasionally during poor weather.
  • Ability to bend, lift, kneel, crawl, and carry up to 50lbs.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-time, seasonal position (March 16th-October 15th) with a daily per diem rate starting at $135.
  • The general schedule is approximately 22 days / month based on a 5 out of 7 days / week schedule, which many need to flex due to programming needs, with weekends and / or holiday work required based on COBS’s program calendar.
  • 56 hours sick / year benefit.
  • Onsite housing will be provided; The Rocky Mountain Program Warehouse Manager is required to work on the premises at COBS’s Leadville, CO base camp.

This is not a remote position.

  • Meals provided in the summer months, ongoing meal assistance looks different during shoulder seasons depending on the program, without deduction of wages.
