37.5 hours per week.This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications.

NY HELPS Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications : A bachelor's or higher degree Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.

S. Department of Education / U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.

This information can be found at Candidates are responsible for the evaluation fee.It is expected that employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status in the future, without having to compete in an examination.

Employees will then be afforded all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Preferred Qualifications : Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.Standard Duties : As a Labor Services Representative, you would assist customers and provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations.

You would interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences.

You would identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers. Intensive job placement assistance is key through developing skills-based resume, successful employment interview coaching, providing continuing job leads, conducting employment referrals and advocating for the job seeker when applying for a job.

You would provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor.Additional Comments : Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.
