ICU Veterinary Technician or Assistant

Vista Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

Our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital provides care in internal medicine, critical care, radiology, and cardiology.

Our modern facility offers a full in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasonography, on-site CT, and endoscopy.

About the Job :

As a Veterinary Technician / Assistant in our Emergency / Critical Care department, you will be responsible for :

• Shifts : 4-10's, Day shift .
• Caring for a variety of cases- Emergency and Specialty Medicine.
• Must be able to prioritize patient hourly treatments and delegate tasks. Triage critical patients, recognize changes in patient status and report to the doctor, educate / update owners on patient status, and discharge patients from the hospital.
• Assessing hospitalized patients needs and communicating details to the DVM overseeing the case.
• Inpatient treatments and nursing care throughout the shift.
• Calculating and administering medication, fluid additives, CRI's
• Partnering with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and, free fluid.
• Placement and maintenance of nasogastric tube, nasal cannula, central venous catheters.
• Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient assessment.
• Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
• Surgical assisting for minor (non-specialty) procedures.

Our compensation for this role typically falls between $24.00 and $32.00 hourly. Compensation is based on skillset, experience, and licensure.

We offer an additional shift differential for swing and grave shifts.

About You :

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting is required. 1 year of ECC experience is preferred.
• RVT or VTS preferred but not required.
• Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring.
• Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens and working knowledge of radiographic techniques is required
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.

• Passion for providing the highest quality in patient care.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected.
