Job Summary :

The Patient Service Representative will greet all Urology Austin patients as they arrive, ensuring proper exchange of information between the patient and our practice.

Further, since this position is often the first contact many patients have with Urology Austin, the purpose of this position is to act as a liaison between the patient, the Practice staff and the physicians.

Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Greet patients with a smile and a positive attitude.
  • Check-in all patients by obtaining accurate and up-to-date demographic and insurance information at each patient visit.
  • Work with the billing office as needed to ensure proper entry of patient insurance information.
  • Assist with telephone coverage, as needed.
  • Assist with insurance verification of new patients and established patients with new insurance.
  • Collect co-payments from all patients, as required.
  • Identify patient balance prior to the patient’s visit and collect patient balances, as required.
  • Maintain an accurate cash box, including end-of-day balancing.
  • Assist patient with completion of various medical documents, as needed.
  • Assist with chart pulls for future visits and ensure all requested test results have been received as well as other medical records, as requested.
  • Keep the waiting area clean and neat at all times, straightening chairs, keeping magazines neat and current, etc.
  • Keep front desk check-in / check-out desk clean and neat at all times.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years medical office experience, preferably in a surgical practice.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance plans, including Medicare & Medicaid.
  • Proficiency in computer software use, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
