THE WORK
Position Assignment : F-35 Training Operations Manager to be located in Komatsu, Japan. This position will be responsible for the execution of training operations in support of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF).
This location will be difficult for families with individuals in school. Please be advised there are no English-speaking schools K-12th Grade, nor English Tutors offered in close proximity to this site.
The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the Lockheed Martin training team and Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) to fulfill F-35 training objectives in Komatsu, Japan.
This management position supports military pilots’ flight procedures in maintaining qualification level in the Pilot Training Device by executing approved pilot training syllabi, upgrade, and tactics training.
CIP will provide pilot training using the F-35 Full Mission Simulator (FMS). The instructor will primarily operate Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting pilot training and tactics development, as well as recommendations for courseware updates.
The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the Lockheed Martin team at dedicated training sites to fulfill F-35 training and continuation training objectives.
The successful candidate will implement and support Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs and policies, as directed. Candidate must maintain a Secret level security clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) access.
Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience / combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.
Additional duties and related responsibilities will be assigned as required.
Additional responsibilities :
- Employee engagement : Provide performance feedback to employees and engage with them on career goals and development.
- Configuration Management : Overseeing implementation of updates / upgrades and closeout of applicable documentation.
- Customer coordination with scheduling (operations and maintenance) : Shall provide the designated customer representative with a proposed 30-90 day plan for approval of the utilization of the PTDs to include scheduled maintenance downtime.
- Sortie Completion and Readiness Reporting : Accurate and timely submission of daily training and device information.
- AS9100 Compliance : Ensure site is operating within the guidelines and has all necessary tools, documentation, and training required to be successful.
Foreign Assignment : This position will offer a long term deployment to a foreign country supporting Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) in Komatsu, Japan.
Candidates be advised : this position operates in direct support of a deployable F-35 fighter squadron. Employee in this role may be required to deploy with the customer on peacetime and wartime military operations for defined and potentially undefined durations, and may be required to obtain and maintain customer required deployment readiness qualifications leading up to potential deployments.
Desired skills
- Previous experience as an F-35 Contractor Instructor Pilot (CIP) or F-35 Pilot Subject Matter (SME) experience.
- 1000+ hours Fighter Flight Time in fourth and / or fifth generation fighter aircraft.
- Previous experience with Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) customer.
- Familiarity with Japan flight rules, procedures, and operations.
- Familiarity with F-35 tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Familiarity with Pacific theatre customers and mission.
- Familiarity with F-35 program requirements.
- Familiarity with the F-35 ALIS program.
