Our Fuels & Combustion division invites qualified candidates to apply for our Research Chemist opening!
Performs research on jet fuel technology with an emphasis on chemical analysis techniques such as gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography.
Manages general chemical laboratory efforts, i.e., equipment, supplies, samples, and schedules. Encourages a collaborative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications :
1) Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field plus a minimum of 5 years experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory setting.
2) The applicant must be capable of working independently and safely in a chemical lab environment while maintaining a collaborative relationship with the team.
3) The applicant shall have several years of experience with MS Office products and data processing using equipment vendor software.
4) The applicant will demonstrate an understanding of quality control and be experienced in applying these skills to analytical methods.
5) Proficiency with communicating (written and verbal) as shown by publications, presentations, reports, and / or internal communications.
6) The applicant shall demonstrate good organizational skills.
7) Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.
S. Citizen and maintain a security clearance are required.
Preferred Qualifications :
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following :
1) Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field plus a minimum of 3 years experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory setting.
2) Demonstrable proficiency with gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, multidimensional gas chromatography, inductively coupled plasma, and extraction methods such as bench-scale solid phase extraction as shown by multiple years of operating experience.
3) Proven experience with Chemstation, GC Image and data analysis tools such as Excel or Python.
4) Proven experience conducting ASTM methods such as D2425, D6379, or D8396.
5) Proven laboratory management experience in a multidisciplinary team environment.
